The Countdown Is On: The 2026 AFSA Season Kicks Off on 3 October

The countdown is officially on.
American Football South Australia is excited to announce that the 2026 season kicks off on Saturday, 3 October, marking the beginning of another exciting year for our sport.
The 2026 season represents another significant step forward for American football in South Australia. Alongside our Senior Tackle competition, this year introduces new opportunities for players, families and supporters to become part of the AFSA community.
One of the biggest milestones for the league is the launch of AFSA's inaugural Women's Flag Football competition. This historic season provides women with a dedicated competition to showcase their skills, compete at a high level and continue the growth of flag football across South Australia.
Our youngest athletes will also take the field through Touchdown Kids, AFSA's introductory program for children aged 8–12. Designed to teach the fundamentals of American football in a fun, safe and inclusive environment, the program helps develop the next generation of players while introducing families to our sport.
The South City Chiefs, Adelaide University Eagles, Eastern Razorbacks and Port Adelaide Spartans will once again take the field this season as they compete for a place in the Great Southern Bowl. With the season fast approaching, clubs will soon begin preparing for what promises to be another exciting and highly competitive year of football.
Beyond the action on the field, the 2026 season is about continuing to grow our sport and strengthen our community. Every player, coach, official, volunteer, partner and supporter plays an important role in creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience American football in South Australia.
As we count down to kick-off on Saturday, 3 October, we look forward to welcoming our members, supporters, partners and the wider community back to Dry Creek Reserve for another memorable season of American football.
